Getting started
What to set up first
- Your vehicle. Reclaim needs to know what you drive to pay the right rate for it. A car and a van are not always paid the same, and in some countries neither is a motorcycle.
- How trips start. Smart is the recommended setting. It records every drive on its own and flags the ones your phone was not plugged in for, so you can spot anything that was not really a car journey.
- Where claims go. The email address that reimburses you, and how often you claim. Weekly and monthly are the common ones, but anything from daily to yearly works.
- Your country. This sets the mileage rate, the currency and whether you work in miles or kilometres.
If you skipped setup, or your job has changed, you can run it again from the bottom of Settings. Nothing changes until you finish it.
Your first drive
With automatic tracking on, you do nothing at all. Drive, park, and a few minutes later the trip appears in your Inbox with the route drawn on a map.
Every recorded trip waits in the Inbox until you say whether it was business or personal. That is the one job the app cannot do for you, and it is two taps. Nothing reaches a claim until you have done it, which means an unsorted Inbox gives you a claim that is short rather than a claim that is wrong.
If nearly all your driving falls one way, set what new trips should be by default in Settings. The Inbox then becomes a short list of exceptions to correct rather than a queue to clear.
Finding your way around
- Inbox holds new trips waiting to be sorted.
- Trips is everything recorded, newest first.
- The + button adds a receipt, adds a trip by hand, or starts recording right now.
- Report shows what the current claim period is worth and has the button that sends it.
- Settings is everything else, including Help.
What to do in your first week
Drive as normal and sort the Inbox each evening. A week of that tells you whether the tracking method you picked suits how you actually drive, and changing it is one tap if it does not.
At the end of your first claim period, open Report and look at the claim before you send it. Once you trust what is in there, turning on automatic sending means you never think about it again.
Still stuck? Ask us, or use Help inside the app.
