Norway mileage rates

What you can claim per kilometre for business driving in Norway, set by Skatteetaten under the distance-based allowance (bilgodtgjørelse).

The rates in force now

In force from 1 January 2026.

Business mileage rates for Norway
VehicleRate
Car 3.50 kr a kilometre
Moped or light motorcycle 2.00 kr a kilometre
Heavy motorcycle 2.95 kr a kilometre

A single flat rate, with no annual allowance to use up and nothing to reset. Carrying a colleague on the same business journey adds 1.00 kr a kilometre.

This is the tax-free rate. The state travel agreement pays more per kilometre, and the difference between the two is taxed as pay rather than being something to claim.

What that adds up to

15,000 business kilometres in a year comes to 52,500.00 kr (15,000 km at 3.50 kr a kilometre).

Keeping the record

Whatever the rate, the claim only stands up if the journeys behind it do. That means the date, where you went, how far, and why it was business. Reclaim records each trip as you drive, prices it at the rate above, and turns the lot into a claim you can send.

Rates change when Skatteetaten changes them. Reclaim picks new rates up without waiting for an app update, and old trips keep the rate that applied on the day they happened.
